Hernán is a Partner at SAI Law and Economics, where he leads the area of Investment Banking. He is a founder of SAI, Aklara and the NAFTA Fund of Mexico.
In 1999, he founded the Investment Banking area at SAI Law and Economics.
From 1989 to 1998, he created and developed the Derivatives Products and Futures Market Area of Serfin Financial Group, of which he was Executive Director. At the same time, he worked as Executive Director of Private Banking for the Group. He participated in the planning, development and creation of the Mexican Derivatives Market (MexDer) and he acted as Chairman of the Board and CEO of Asigna, the clearing corporation for said market. He has been a member of the board of both entities since their foundation.
He has been a Lecturer and Professor in Econometrics and Finance at CIDE, ITAM, Colegio de Mexico, Universidad Iberoamericana and UNAM. He currently lectures Applied Macroeconomics at ITAM.
In 2010, he received an award as best Lecturer of the Department of Economics at Universidad Iberoamericana.
Hernan Sabau is an Actuary who graduated from the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México. He obtained an MA in Econometrics from the University of Manchester, in England, and a Ph.D. in Econometrics from the Australian National University.
He received an award for Best Students in Mexico from Conacyt in 1976 and the A.H. Allaman award of Statistics from the University of Manchester in 1979.
He is a member of the Board of Directors of MexDer, Asigna and Contraparte Central de Valores, as well as Grupo Financiero Monex, Alphacredit and Operadora de Fondos Nafin.
